The Story of With A Little Love

In 2009, The Cooperative Ministry presented its highest honor, the Outstanding Community Service Award, to philanthropist and Hootie & The Blowfish drummer Jim “Soni” Sonefeld. The organization honored him with an a cappella version of the Hootie & The Blowfish hit “Hold My Hand,” performed by the renowned Benedict College Gospel Choir. Soni was blown away by the choir’s reinterpretation of the song and decided—right then and there—to find a way to record it, make it available for download, and then to give 100 percent of artist proceeds to serve the working poor.

It is a remarkable story: a Grammy award winning band gives up the rights to a song featured on one of the best-selling albums of all times; a nationally recognized college choir donates its time and talent to record it; and a community comes together to create a movement to help a neighbor in need.

We are grateful to The Knight Foundation for supporting this project.
